Definitions of genre types

Fly on the wall documentary - a show filmed in such a style that camera crews, directors, producers etc, are as unobtrusive as possible. The name deriving from how a fly on a wall would percieve a situation. Despite crews being very out of they way, participants can often be spoken to/interviewed by off camera voices.
Fly on the wall is used to represent truth and reality without intervention.

Scripted reality television - a show in which real people are put into pre-arranged situations (given by the production team) who talk naturally. However, elements of the show can be scripted. The situations are designed to encourage certain reactions and paths of conversation.
Example: Made in Chelsea -Monkey Entertainment
              


Fiction Production - an invention or fabrication as opposed to a factual occurence. Often follow imaginary characters or events. A broad term applied to many genres.
Example: Misfits - Clerkenwell Films
               Beaver Falls - Company Pictures
